Friends of Zambian Orphans
Friends of Zambian Orphans (FOZO) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by a mother-son pair who were deeply moved by the orphan crisis already well underway in Zambia where an estimated 1 million children have lost either one or both parents, largely due to HIV/AIDS.
Our mission is simple. Improve the well-being of orphaned children so they may achieve happiness and realize their full potential. Early childhood education is key. It provides a safe haven from the premature realities of a difficult life, while providing the self-esteem necessary for achievement.
This is why we have partnered the Kondwa Centre for Orphans in the capital city of Lusaka with the Chase Collegiate School in Waterbury, Connecticut. Through a Kids Helping Kids philosophy, we learn from each other, make the world a smaller place and move forward in the celebration of childhood.
Thank you for visiting. We hope you enjoy learning more and perhaps discover ways in which you might join our efforts.

Our Philosophy
“What I think is that if my father were still alive he would look after us well. He would buy us food, clothes and shoes, which we don’t have now...My mother is ill. She has been in the hospital. Sometimes my mother gets money from my grandmother, my brother and my father’s relatives. When I grow up, I want to look after my mother, my grandmother and my brothers and sisters.”
